WARNING!

It has come to our attention that Imagevenue has been loading pop-up script into their pages! It has been recognized that these pop-ups may contain malicious spyware that can be transferred to your computer!

Sometimes when you expand a pic to bring it to real size the pop-under ad can be a known spyware thing (usually DriveCleaner or PartyPoker).

From this point on I will recommend not to use Imagevenue here at WWoW! Previous pics uploaded with Imagevenue are allowed to remain here but I HIGHLY recommend everyone do the following....

1. Turn on all pop-up blockers you can. I have my windows and Norton blockers on. I have never seen these pop-ups because of that.

2. Enable that you have to accept cookies from third party sites (windows feature). It may be a pain at first in deciding which cookies to accept since you will be inudated. Hint allow Yahoo, Google, AOL cookies since those sites will not work properly if you don't accept them.

3. Run your spyware program to look for any spyware or bad cookies that may be residing on your computer.

If you have any technical difficulties or have more questions, please come to the Tech forum and we'll be glad to help you out! :Kool

This is exactly why I no longer use ImageVenue to host my screen caps. I've found Photobucket to be a much friendlier experience

Pictiger is what I will be using. It can create folders to store caps like Fotki, but it can also just do it in imagevenue and imageshack format with the hotlinking. It's a lot faster than imageshack which is slower than a bug for me.

I had contacted imagevenue as I'm sure other people did. They were quick to respond regarding the problem.

It was an advertiser that had a malicious code, not imagevenue and they've banned the advertiser outright. I also found a celeb site that was having the same problems and apologized for it stating an ad broker was causing major problems on the site with adware, popups, etc...

So imagevenue is just one of many sites that had been affected by a malicious ad broker. So don't throw imagevenue under the bus just yet.

Well, considering they banned the ad broker that was causing the problem, I would say yes, they're definatley going to be monitoring things on their end because of this but if anyone experiences another problem the best thing to do is to notify imagevenue immediatley if need be, imagevenue@gmail.com

Believe me, they respond.
