Fans of bad cinema and/or Mystery Science Theater 3000 are well aware of this unique piece of celluloid. So imagine one person's surprise when he bought several boxes worth of film reels of public domain movies off of eBay and discovered that one of them was a 16mm work print of Manos. Being a man who's worked behind the camera, he is currently planning on restoring the movie himself. The way this news is slowly exploding around the internet, he may have a little more help before he knows it.

A more detailed account of his discovery...

The MST3K version has been released three times, on a single Rhino DVD, on a Rhino two disc comp titled The Essentials (paired with Santa Claus Conquers The Martians), and it was recently released as a two disc deluxe edition by Shout! Factory, coupled with special features and the un-MSTied version. The discovery of the work print came much too late for it to even be considered to be used in the deluxe set. Nonetheless, I find the potential restoration of one of the worst movies ever made to be quite intriguing.
