Post subject:  Good webspace other than rapidshare.de?

Hi,

Since joining WWW recently, I've uploaded a few video files and plan to continue doing so, from my extensive collection. Following an example set by others, have been using http://rapidshare.de for that purpose. So far, so good. However, going forward, gotta say that, as an "artist", I can't help but be concerned with the fact that any file which has not been downloaded by anyone for 30 days is automatically deleted by them. That can't be good for any new members, now, can it?... The 30MB file size limit doesn't help, either -- some of my best clips are in the 30-50MB range.

Personally, I was dismayed, to say the least, that MOST video files uploaded since WWW's inception only 6 months ago are GONE... no longer available. Bummer!

So, could anyone suggest a reputable, free (presumably ads-supported as well), user-friendly (for downloaders) webspace other than rapidshare.de ? Checked with my broadband ISP -- nope, not without paying dearly for "commercial web hosting" with adequate bandwidth.

Thanks,

lateapex

Unfortunately, rapidshare is the best thing going for vidclip hosting at this time. Most other places restrict you to 5MB files and the bandwith limits are tighter. Before rapidshare, everyone was using their own ISP or Yahoo in some way. Yahoo Groups or briefcases have a limit on how much total space you can use. Because of that everyone has had to delete older clips to put up newer clips. :? If there is a clip that you think you would like to see that was deleted, put up a request with a link to the post with the deleted clip.

Rapidshare is a god send compared to Yahoo Groups. 30 days isn't really that bad of a time period. If you have problems with the file size limit (which is actually 30000KB=29.29MB) you can do a 2 pass encode with Divx or Xvid and set what you want the final file size to be.

http://yousendit.com is the best site considered for sending the files upto 1 GB... i had my frend delivering me a 830 mb dvd file over this site...
but the problem is the limit of only 25 dnlds or 7 days whichever occurs first....
i found this on one of the forums i am member of :

Quote:
copy and paste this CODE: http://anonym.to/?
n front of the yousendit link it self.. so basicallly it will look like this when you are done
CODE: http://anonym.to/?http://s8.yousendit.c ... 3E2C345DB9 80

the point of this is just to extend the life of a link way beyond the normal 10 downloads or wutever it gives you. using this trick should make links last 7 days
with unlimited or a very high amount of downloads... ive had a link do 100 downloads so far without dying.

so use it... the links will stay up longer and u wont have to re-up them as often

if a mod wants to sticky this... it'd be very useful cuz i know 90% i try to get a file in here... the link is dead cuz it is yousend it.....just do this

This is 110% working

dunno this work or not.. not tried yet...[/quote]
