I made the mistake of updating VLC player and now it freezes on the first frame and won't play, tried all different kinds of video files and it won't play any of them. Does anyone have any suggestions? I use VLC as main way to get screen caps from vids otherwise I wouldn't care that much.

Just downloaded GOM Player, seems to do everything VLC does. Will let you all know after I've used it for a bit.

I mostly use virtual dub for screen shots, it's easier to get specific screen shots if they're AVI files. If the video is in a different format, I use VLC player.
