how do you play these files and what player would you need to play them.

.rar is a file type for archiving. The videos you are looking for are inside the file. If you use a PC, you'll need a tool like WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the videos from the .rar file. If you have a Mac, you should read this post for suggestions: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=122607
