Many people had this matchup as the AFC Championship in spite of the Steelers 11-0 record. The reason: the Bills played like more of a complete team than the Steelers. They showed it all season, they proved it in the head-to-head matchup, and they definitely showed it in the playoffs. A close Wild Card Playoff victory over the Colts, and a defensive Divisional Playoff win over the Ravens led them to the AFC Championship for the first time since 1993--the last of their four straight Super Bowl appearances.

Nearly everyone had the Chiefs returning to the Super Bowl this season, though the defending champions recently hit a speed bump on their road. Though they defeated the Browns in the Divisional Playoff, it came at a huge cost, as Patrick Mahomes was shaken up badly after a tackle, and he ended up out for the rest of the game due to a concussion. Even with Chad Henne in Mahomes' place, KC held on and clinched their third straight AFC Championship appearance; the first AFC team to host the game three years in a row.

2020 Statistics

Kansas City Chiefs

Total Offense: 6,653 yds; 415.8 ypg (1st)
Passing Offense: 4,854 yds; 303.4 ypg (1st)
Rushing Offense: 1,799 yds; 112.4 ypg (16th)
Total Defense: 5,733 yds; 358.3 ypg (16th)
Passing Defense: 3,779 yds; 236.2 ypg (14th)
Rushing Defense: 1,954 yds; 122.1 ypg (21st)

Buffalo Bills

Total Offense: 6,343 yds; 396.4 ypg (T-2nd)
Passing Offense: 4,620 yds; 288.8 ypg (3rd)
Rushing Offense: 1,723 yds; 107.7 ypg (20th)
Total Defense: 5,640 yds; 352.5 ypg (14th)
Passing Defense: 3,726 yds; 232.9 ypg (13th)
Rushing Defense: 1,914 yds; 119.6 ypg (17th)

Top two offenses battling each other; both teams in the top five in passing, but running is pretty suspect. Defenses are middle of the pack overall, but not really faulty. However, regarding the passing offense, KC got all of that with Mahomes. Honestly, Kansas City's fate depends on Mahomes' health. They will look at him very carefully, and I honestly see him being fully 100%, and if that's the case, then KC will return to the Super Bowl with a close victory.

No two concussions are the same. We will see by Thursday or Friday how the Super Bowl MVP is progressing.

And if he is ruled out, it might be an even matchup compared if Baltimore or Pittsburgh had advanced.

Kansas City was the better team in every aspect. If they are to win another super bowl people should talk about them as a dynasty.
