Last season, the Tampa Bay Lightning had it all. The Presidents' Trophy, 62 wins, Hart, Norris and Vezina candidates. All they were looking for was a Cup, and they had a soft opponent in the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus had never won more than two games in a postseason, so this should be a cakewalk. Turned out, it was...for Columbus.
In what was perhaps the biggest embarrassment in sports, the 62-win, 128-point Lightning were swept, dominated, fried, dyed, and laid to the side by the lowly Blue Jackets. Even worse, they fell off after leading 3-0 after one--in Game One. I can still hear fans laughing at them. Now needless to say, TB needs to rebound from this, and when the Jackets defeated the Maple Leafs in the deciding game of the Qualifying Round series, the opportunity was set. Has Tampa Bay learned from last year? I'd like to believe so. We should see the Bolts win this rematch, but fair warning Lightning: if you lose to CBJ again, you should crawl into the same hole that the Falcons were in after Super Bowl LI and just hide for the next few seasons.
Prediction: Lightning in 7
#1
