Death, taxes, and the Houston Texans kicking off Wild Card Weekend. The Texans had quite an interesting 2019 season; up-and-down a bit, but they did just enough to finish 10-6 and win the AFC South for the second straight year and the sixth time overall. The main catalysts behind their latest playoff appearance: QB DeShaun Watson, RB Carlos Hyde, WR DeAndre Hopkins, and a defense that stood tall even with the injury to JJ Watt. The Buffalo Bills went 17 straight seasons without a playoff appearance. They are now in the playoffs for the second time in three seasons, and this time, they didn't need Andy Dalton to get in. The Bills, behind Josh Allen at QB, and a very stellar defense, played so well that they actually had a small shot at winning the AFC East. They fell short, but finished 10-6.

Notes: All six of the Texans' playoff appearances came as division champions; no Wild Card berths. Houston is 3-5 all time in the playoffs, and has never advanced past the Divisional Playoff, nor have they ever had a first round bye. The Bills are looking for their first postseason win in 25 years: the 1995 WC over the Dolphins. And let's not forget the biggest trivial note: the last time the Bills faced a Houston team in the playoffs? 27 years ago today! The Houston Oilers led 35-3 nearly halfway into the 3rd quarter in the 1992 AFC WC Playoff, but after regulation, it was tied at 38. Bills won with a FG in OT, beginning their road to their third straight Super Bowl appearance. Now, Houston's shoddy playoff history does open the door for an upset from the Bills, but I see Houston's playoff experience playing out in the end in this matchup.

Prediction: Texans by 4

#1

Texans 22, Bills 19 (OT)

Texans come back from 16-0 down and win an OT thriller over the Bills.
