RIVALRY WEEK RESULTS VIRGINIA (22) 39 Virginia Tech 30 Cavaliers take Commonwealth Cup and snap a 15-year winning streak by the Hokies. IOWA (18) 27 Nebraska 24 A game winning field goal with 3 seconds left gives the Hawkeyes the HEROES TROPHY. BOISE STATE (19) 31 Colorado State 24 Broncos extend their winning streak over the Rams to 9 games. MEMPHIS (16) 34 Cincinnati (21) 24 Tigers defeat the Bearcats to earn their 3rd straight AAC West title. APPALACHIAN STATE (20) 48 Troy 13 The Mountaineers will play the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns this weekend for the Sun Belt Conference title. GEORGIA (4) 52.Georgia Tech 7 The good news is that the Dawgs have the 4th playoff spot. The bad news is they face #1 LSU this weekend for the SEC Championship. If GA loses and Utah beats Oregon, they may be out of the picture. OHIO STATE (2) 56 Michigan (17) 27 "The Game" was pretty one-sided and the loss knocked the Wolverines down 7 spots in the AP poll. CLEMSON (3) 38 South Carolina 3 Tigers will play Virginia for ACC title. They are the team most likely to remain in the playoffs. BAYLOR (8) 61 Kansas 6 This is only the 3rd time since 1899 that Baylor has won 11 games in the regular season. Look out Sooners !! WISCONSIN (10) 38 Minnesota 17 Badgers win the battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe and will take on Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship game. PENN STATE (12) 27 Rutgers 6 The Scarlet Knights really ought to consider changing conferences. Big Ten is too much for their program. AUBURN (11) 48 Alabama (9) 45 You may have watched this game on TV. Bama falls in the Iron Bowl despite gaining 160 yards more than Auburn. No playoffs for the Crimson Tide this year. OREGON (13) 24 Oregon State 10 They call this game The Civil War. Oregon will face juggernaut Utah in the PAC 12 championship. NOTRE DAME (14) 45 Stanford 24 Book throws 4 TD passes in a comfortable win for the Irish. LSU (1) 50 Texas A&M 7. Can anyone beat the Tigers this year? FLORIDA (7) 40 Florida State 17 Gators win the "Sunshine Showdown" and become the highest ranked team with 2 losses this season. UTAH (5) 45 Colorado State 15 Utes will face Oregon for PAC 12 title. They have a shot at a CFB Playoff spot., OKLAHOMA (6) 34 Oklahoma State 16 Sooners win The Bedlam Series in football. Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts became only the second player in school history to run for a TD, pass for a TD and catch a TD pass in the same game. |

"The Scarlet Knights really ought to consider changing conferences. Big Ten is too much for their program." Because the B1G really needs that New York/New Jersey market though. Seriously, is there any football/basketball Power 5 conference more geographically (and numerically) misaligned than the Big Ten? |

Seriously, is there any football/basketball Power 5 conference more geographically (and numerically) misaligned than the Big Ten? Being a NJ native I saw Rutgers football make a huge mistake by joining the Big Ten. I get the financial rewards. They are big. But from a fan's perspective it is really embarrassing to watch a team get slaughtered every week by an opponent who spends the $ on scholarships and everything else it takes to be a successful program. |
