Dennis Carter, the sports director for WSET in Lynchburg, VA has tonight announced his retirement affective at the end of the year. He has been in broadcasting for 40 years, and at WSET consecutively since 1983.

Here's a little sampling of Dennis' sports that I've found. He is certainly the voice of my generation around here, alongside guys like the late Roy Stanley from WDBJ7 and Greg Roberts, formerly of WSLS10.
With Dennis' retirement, there is only one extremely long term anchor left, Robin Reed who has been with WDBJ7 as it's weather chief and now lead anchor since the late 70's. Robin is the mentor of well known weatherlady Cecily Tynan, who spent a few years at WDBJ in the 90's.
