Only 10 days until the new season of Entertainment Tonight. I'm hoping for a new co-host and a new main set would be revealed. It's been nearly a month since Nancy O'Dell left the show and they been hosting ET using a green screen for two months. I'm pretty sure it was an on-air and set makeover at the time. I'm still hoping that Brooke Anderson and/or Jill Arrington would get the co-hosting gig and I'm hoping that a new main set is completed by the time the new season of ET starts September 9. Fingers crossed on all of that. In the meantime, here's a promo for new season of Entertaiment Tonight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuogxrZ98GE

Leeza Gibbons was the hottest host ever, next was Julie Moran.

Indeed. Leeza pave the way for Mary Hart who pave the way for Nancy O'Dell who pave the way for many TV journalists.

True -- Mary joined the show in it's second season (1982), after a brief co-hosting gig with Regis Philbin on the first incarnation of his morning show.
Leeza didn't arrive for another couple of years.

ET's original female host when it started in fall 1981 was former Miss World Marjorie Wallace, largely forgotten now because she was let
go from the show not too long afterward. Here's a clip of the very first episode (1981):

Then one of the correspondents, Dixie Whatley, was briefly elevated to anchor:
Dixie in April 1982:

Mary Hart came along soon after, but Dixie remained with the show for a while -- back as a correspondent and occasional subbing for Mary.
Here's Dixie filling in for Mary, either late '82 or early '83:

There might have been some attempt to get Dixie to sort of match Mary in appearance, like you see here, and she was definitely a gorgeous woman -
but I think I've seen some interview with her from several years ago where she says she just wasn't cut out for that. For some reason, either
her own choice or the show's, Dixie departed once it was clear Mary wasn't going anywhere.

Leeza Gibbons came on board in sometime in 1984 as a correspondent first, then moved up into regular sub for Mary and weekend host after Dixie left.
This is a very early clip of Leeza (and Mary) in a Christmastime promo for the show in December '84 -- a while before Leeza grew out her hair and "glammed up":

Wow. Thanks for the clips. I miss the 80s.

Quick reminder that a new season of Entertainment Tonight is a week from today. New hosts and a new set will be revealed sometime this week.

Set remains the same for their 39th season, but they have a new executive producer: Erin Johnson. There's also a new, horn-laced version of the famous ET theme and they've brought back the ET Birthdays after many years.

This all comes in response to Mario Lopez and Billy Bush the new hosts of Access Hollywood and Extra respectively; Bush, of course, back on TV after 2 1/2 years off due to "that tape" featuring a certain billionaire turned President.

Even better, Brooke Anderson has rejoin ET as (most likely permanent) new co-host this season just weeks after Nancy O'Dell left the show.

Congrats to her. I remember her from CNN/HLN.

My guess is they're rotating her, Keltie Knight, and Nischelle Turner with Kevin Frazier.

Yes, that's what it appears to be at the moment.
Nancy's departure was kind of "off-schedule" in that she didn't leave back before summer started, but rather very late
as preparations for the new season were under way. They probably want to have more time to get these ladies better evaluated, and
then arrive at a decision, maybe in time for the holidays or first of next year.
That said, they could also be checking out other outside options too, so Nancy's permanent replacement may be an entirely new face.
Remember, Nancy was brought in very soon before Mary Hart left, and it was already known Mary would retire so Nancy likely had the job
as part of her hiring terms-- she had no prior connection to ET up till then.

Nischelle Turner, another CNN Entertainment alum.
