Once again, another pregnancy becomes front page fodder for a major market station: http://www.robertfeder.com/2017/08/24/fox-32-anchors-lament-isnt-shame/ It is true, there is a reason why expecting ladies have to wear those tighter fitting dresses...Ginger Zee also falls into this category as well. Even the all female friendly site of Yahoo! Style had an article about Kristen speaking out (which the article also points out the three snarky emails she received), both while she was reading the news and becoming a subject on Fox 32 In The Morning: https://www.yahoo.com/style/pregnant-newscaster-responds-viewers-offended-tight-dress-use-time-better-003840034.html My take is simple--we should never, ever criticize any woman who decides to announce her pregnancy on live television. They either wish to share it with the world or announce when the time is right to do. It is also the station's decision (or network as they see fit) to mostly show the ladies generally from the elbows up. You don't need a Communications degree at a college to know that fact. I have often learned saying statements like, "That dress really looks great on you", should give the woman something nice to think about. So far, thousands of fans on Kristen's Facebook have been more than supportive--and that's the way it should be. |
