According to the article above, she and her husband spent a lot of money as well so unless they can cut down if she leaves or she gets another job somewhere (which can be possible) she needs this job more than likely. Though I don't think the producers want to replace both co-hosts at the same time and/or a year later so you might be right she has some leverage (again might). We don't know for sure.

As much as I like to see Joel McHale take over, I don't he's a possibility unless he wants to move to New York same for Seacrest. The Craigs might be a possibility. Letterman would more than likely stay retired. Stewart is under contract with HBO doing short documentaries I doubt he'll return to the heavy grind of TV. I'm sure their will be people like Anderson Cooper and others. Keep in mind, the producers take a year. I think Justin Timberlake would be a good choice but I think he lives in LA. Maybe consider Ben Aaron aka Mr. Ginger Zee. Sure there's no shortage of people out there.

The first I've seen of many stories that will be written about her return to Live. I watched the show this morning. She made her point about communication and respect and thanked the show's fans. Time to move on.

Not sure what qualifies that article as "fallout" --

Basically it's msn.com saying that an InTouch story claiming that Kelly
is taking a big paycut is completely false.

Going from $20 million to $10 million? A 50% cut? Highly unlikely to begin with.
Kelly's already in a current contract with ABC that still has about another year
to go, so whatever she negotiated for before it went into effect is what she's getting, obviously.
If she were to get a lower amount at all, it would happen next year, not now anyway.

imo all this is, is a publicity ploy buy ABC. Kelly Ripa was already scheduled to be off for vacation on the Thursday, Friday and Monday she was off.

So let me ask this question...

I understand that ABC is already scouring the four corners looking for a replacement for Strahan.

That being said, how would the current WWoW membership who watches/DVRs/caps the show regularly feel about her going solo on a more permanent basis?

I think it would mean the end of the show. I'm guessing the so-called host chat is very popular with the viewers because the hosts talk about personal things in their lives and the viewers get a peek into their private lives unlike The View or The Talk where all they do is gossip. It's the formula that makes Live different. If Kelly doesn't have a co-host to talk to, she'd have to go Wendy Williams and give a monologue to the camera/audience. I can't see Kelly being able to pull that off.

I think Kelly would probably be up to the challenge (to a degree) --
She does like talking, and she does like talking about herself and her family, so no issue there.

The problem I think would come from what's expected by the audience (those at home more than in studio)
The show's brand has always been two hosts, in some ways diametrically opposed to each
other, riffing on current events, bouncing off each other, even verbal sparring to a point.
And this was true even in the pre-Kathie Lee days, when Regis had a rotation of co-hosts such as
Mary Hart before she connected with Entertainment Tonight. (we're talking really early '80s)

To get rid of that dynamic and try to turn it into a one-person vehicle just isn't going to fly
with viewers, especially the longtime ones. It's the same reason that the Tonight Show has maintained
a type of sidekick for the host to banter with. Even though not on the couch like Ed McMahon was,
there was still a bandleader to play second fiddle for Leno , and now Jimmy Fallon has his Higgins close by.

Kelly could be a spectacular solo host but it still would kill the dynamic people expect the show to have.

I saw that on Monday he climbed onto her chair with her invitation. Was there something else?

InTouch and the rest of them used to be the goto places for hot pics of celebs but since the internet has far more hot pics all these ragsheets do is waste trees.

Sooo...does anybody see any "leading contenders" to be Mts. Ripa's next co-host?

I'd go with Anderson but that would be a bit odd to have a "news" person from CNN hosting Live. The way he and Kelly talk, they've been good friends for a long time. Jussie Smolett is pretty funny too. Can't say I like Fred much.

Would hate for it to be Anderson Cooper they are so awkward together. She constantly flirts with him but hes gay and it clearly makes him uncomfortable. Its better when theres sexual tension like there was between her and Strahan.

Kathy Griffin has made a whole New Years Eve career out of sexual tension with Anderson

I missed that one. Was it weird. Seems like sexual harassment but since its a girl doing it to a guy its ok in this society.
